A New Beginning was established in 2008 with the goal to assist a group of Rwandan citizens, predominantly widows and orphans displaced during the genocide in 1994 and now resettled by the Rwandan Government in an area of uncultivated savannah.
Rwanda was late to the coffee game, only receiving its initial coffee plants during the early 1900s, it then took about 3 decades for the country's coffee production to gain momentum. Coffee became a crucial sector of the country's economy, accounting for a significant portion of its exports and providing livelihoods for many farmers.
